Dentist Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive dental care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs.
- Perform comprehensive oral examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
- Deliver preventive care
- Restore primary and permanent teeth with fillings, crowns, pulp therapy, and other restorative procedures.
- Perform simple and surgical extractions as indicated.
- Diagnose and manage dental trauma, infections, and other dental emergencies.
- Evaluate growth and development of the teeth, jaws, and bite, making orthodontic referrals when appropriate.
- Utilize behavior guidance techniques to create a positive, child-friendly dental experience.
- Administer local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and sedation in accordance with California regulations and practice protocols, when credentialed.
- Educate parents and caregivers on preventive dentistry, nutrition, oral habits, and home care.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each child’s oral health needs.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation and treatment records.
- Collaborate effectively with dental assistants, hygienists, specialists, and administrative staff to provide exceptional patient care.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based pediatric dentistry and comply with all California Dental Board, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
- Foster strong relationships with patients and families through compassionate communication and excellent customer service.
